Anna Laura Hafner returns to performance with “Lifting the Weight”, a magic ritual aimed to heal the our collective concept of home. Waves of gentrification come and go; this seems to be inherent in a colonized country, and our small community has strongly felt the new wave of global Pandemic gentrification that has led to inflated housing prices and a housing shortage. This ritual spell aims to bring us out of the loss of what our home was, accept what it is now, and move forward together, collectively reimagining community and home. There are folks actively reimagining and providing new solutions to community, Rosekill being a great example. How do we create home within a community and not within materiality and private property? Let us come together to release the old and dream of the new.
